Print Auction
February 1, 2008
Hey Everybody, I have to tell you how excited I am right now. I’m having difficulty focusing long enough to write this letter. Why am I excited? Because I love throwing a party and when there are beautiful pictures involved, even better.Friday Feb. 8th from 6-8pm will be MNPA’s first annual print auction. It will be held at the Midtown Global Market (in the old Sears building) on the corner of Lake St. and Chicago. There is street parking as well as ramp parking. We have received some beautiful work from photographers all across the region. Thanks you so much for your support. Please come and bring your families. Especially for those who have given prints, I’m sure patrons would just love to meet you and maybe get the print signed. It would be a great
experience for all.For those who haven’t sent images either because you forgot or ran out of time, here is your chance. Send pictures to Jennifer Simonson. Here’s her email jsimonson@startribune.com. Please. The best thing about having this event for me is that you can a chance to see the visual diversity in our region. To see what we as group have to offer. It’s very cool. So of course I’m greedy. I want to see more. Is that so terrible? How are we going to market this event so people will come? Well Jeff Thompson has been nice enough to make these cool postcards that we’re going to plaster the Twin Cities with. One is attached to this email so you can print it out and put it up in your office.
Email people you think will come. I intend to harass as many people as I can.We will also have the auction pictures up on the MNPA website. They’ll be in a slideshow so people can view them before the auction. The slide show I‘m hoping to have up by Saturday.
UPDATE: Link to slideshow
So folks, it feels like we’re moving in the right directions. But we need to keep moving, keep active, keep motivated. I’m so encourage by your participation but this can’t be the end. This is only the beginning.
Take care everyone and hopefully I’ll see you soon.
