FRIDAY FOTO
NIGHT SEEN
We (Peter Martin, Mike Zerby) are looking to get together with other photographers and have some interesting times together looking at videos, seeing each others work, discussing what the mood takes us to, “treasure hunt” the web, and in general talk about local events, issues and technology both old and new.
We have a venue on the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus in McNeal Hall, Room 10, a space that can accommodate up to 40 persons. It is equipped with a huge screen, a fine data/video projector and a good sound system. We could hook up any laptop, Mac or PC. Any type of image file, any program any DVD etc. even 8.5” X 11” prints can be projected and will look GREAT!
First night we can view two Films featuring the work of Paul Strand a short film of his – “Manhatta,” 1921, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0131468/ and perhaps “The Plow That Broke The Plains,” Pare Lorentz, 1936. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0122662/
Additionally, we could look at recent images from Haiti via AP, and discuss if they should be photographed, published or what kind of images serve what purpose?
Anyone might entertain or inform us by bringing a personal project of theirs, new or old.
The first gathering is on Friday, February 12, from 6 PM to 9 PM. Three more are scheduled for March 12, April 9 and May 7.
Would you like to attend? What would YOU want see and do?
